Little Millet (Samai Siru-dhanya) Pongal

Ingredients:

Little Millet (Samai) - 1 cup

Moong Dhal - 1/4 cup

Ghee - 3 tbsp

Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp

Peppercorn - 1tbsp

Ginger - 1 inch (grated)

Water - 3.5 cups

Salt, Curry Leaves - As needed

Cashews (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Wash little millet and moong dhal.

  2. Add rice and dhal in pressure cooker with 3.5 cups of water and. Bring to boil and close the cooker, give 4 whistles in medium flame. Once the pressure releases itself, open the cooker and mash.

  3. Heat a pan with ghee, cumin seeds, peppercorn, ginger and curry leaves. You can also add roasted cashwes.

  4. Add this to cooked rice along with some ghee and salt. Mix well.

Hurray! Serve hot with coconut chutney.
